Referring to the goals of the 29th Iranian Ophthalmic Congress, Mohammad Reza Sedaghat stated: “At this year’s congress, like previous congresses, we seek to bring Iranian ophthalmic science relevant to the world on the path of growth and progress.”

He noted that the world ophthalmology is aware of the potentials and potentials of the Iranian Ophthalmology Society, adding: “With this potential, we are seeking to identify ophthalmologists in the region and neighboring countries through holding these congresses.”

Professor of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences emphasized: The presence of guests from the countries of the region and Central Asia in Iran Ophthalmology Congress can make these countries more familiar with the high capacity of ophthalmology in our country which will eventually attract more foreign patients. It will be in Iran.

“At this year’s congress, we emphasize that we have guests from countries such as Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.”

Sadeghat added: Iranian ophthalmology is far from scientific, research, diagnostic and surgical work with neighboring countries and we can use this capacity in the path of health tourism development and exchange of experiences.

“Our ophthalmic potential is very high and we can provide treatments in Iran that are similar in Europe and America,” he said.

The congressional science secretary went on to refer to eye diseases, adding: “One of the most common eye diseases that often affects people in the community is refractive errors.”

Mashhad University of Medical Sciences professor said: Those who have glasses but can not live with it, perhaps refractive surgery and laser surgery to replace the glasses is appropriate.

“If we want to add to the presbyopia that engulfs people after the age of 5, we can say that the whole Iranian community is from age 2,” he said. Age will be glasses.

Speaking about the problems that people with glasses face, he said, “Some people with glasses at work and other daily problems have problems with the use of glasses that can be used to solve the problem.

Professor of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences continued: Optometrists can use laser eye surgery after puberty, from 5 to 5 years of age.

“Of course, one should not forget that before the laser eye surgery, the patient’s condition is evaluated by an ophthalmologist and then the laser is applied.

“Ophthalmic examinations and laser candidate corneal photographs should be completely normal and his glasses number should have stabilized,” said Sadaqat. He has no eye disease and his surgery is not at risk.

“One of the most important eye diseases that a person cannot have a laser on is the keratoconus,” said the scientific secretary of the Iranian Congress of Ophthalmology. In fact, one should not have any other diseases, such as cataracts and glaucoma, except wearing glasses.
